Lithios Co-founder & Chief Scientist Martin Bazant elected to National Academy of Engineering

One of the highest distinctions awarded to engineers in academics and industry, membership to the NAE is given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of engineering.

Martin Z. Bazant, Chief Scientist and Co-founder of Lithios, was elected to the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) “for contributions to nonlinear electrochemical and electrokinetic phenomena, including induced charge electroosmosis, shock electrodialysis, capacitive desalination, and energy storage applications.”

Election to the NAE is one of the highest distinctions awarded to engineers in academics and industry. Membership is given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of engineering, including “the pioneering of new and developing fields of technology”.

Bazant’s cited research paved the way for the commercialization of Advanced Lithium Extraction (ALE) by Lithios, building on the thesis work of Lithios CEO and Co-Founder, Mohammad Alkhadra, in his laboratory at MIT.
